Questions
Why does the new text look slightly different?
The PDF’s own fonts usually can’t be reused for new letters, so a similar font is used. It works best for simple documents with plain text on a plain background.
Is the old text deleted?
It is covered, not removed from the file. To remove private text for good, use Redact PDF.
Can I edit a scanned document?
Not directly — a scan is a picture. Run OCR PDF first, or add new text on top with Add text.
Is Edit PDF text really free?
Yes. There is no limit on files and no watermark. The only paid part of the site is optional online storage.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs in your browser, and the page’s security policy stops it from sending data to any other website. You can check this in your browser’s developer tools: no file is sent while you use it.
Is there a file size limit?
Only your device’s memory. Most phones handle files of a few hundred pages; computers handle much more.
Does it work on phones?
Yes, it works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS and Linux.
